Agriculture is a fundamental activity and efficient resource management is an essential component for safe and sustainable production. About 300 hectares of Frutas Tereso’s own production, together with around 500 hectares of our partners produce thousands of tons of fruit each year that, thanks to the Integrated Production mode we practice, keep pesticide use to a minimum.

With this agricultural system, we manage the natural resources rationally, respect the environment and give priority to natural regulation tools, for example through the use of auxiliary insects and the use of massive pest traps, to minimize the use of pesticides. We thus promote the stability of the ecosystem, improve and preserve soil fertility and promote biodiversity in communion with nature.

Together with the best environmental and production practices, we invest in research and development (R & D). An example of this is the study of techniques to reduce the use of pesticides in post-harvest citrus treatments, which aims to increase food safety and mitigate direct and indirect losses at this stage of production. Through one of the projects we developed, we sought to take advantage of the planting of pomegranate trees and tested the qualities of pomegranate-derived compounds extracted from the peel to be used as a treatment for some diseases in citrus fruits.

Our factory spans 4000 square meters of covered area and includes eight cold rooms each with a 1200-ton capacity to store citrus fruit. We invest in state-of-the-art industrial machinery to ensure the best conservation, grading and packaging.

The focus on quality is visible in the implementation of programs such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Global GAP. We follow product traceability, process quality control and post-harvest control practices, including levels of fungal contamination and analysis of pesticide residues to the final product.

We also joined the Ponto Verde Company and the Ecolub certification, adopting the best waste recycling practices.
